Facebook Pixel in Shopify: What It's Used for and How to Install It
If you are a regular reader of Webmefy, you will already know how to sell through Facebook and that is why on this occasion we want to focus on the Facebook Pixel , an interesting tool that will allow you to better understand your audience and how they behave on your website. This way, you can adapt your advertising campaigns to their behavior to increase their impact. You can achieve all this in a very simple way that we are going to explain to you below.
What is the functionality of the Facebook Pixel?
There are three functions that we would highlight:
- Ensure that your ads reach the right people : You will be able to find and target new customers or people who have visited a specific page or taken an action that interests you on your website.
- Increase sales : The Facebook pixel sets up automatic bids to target people most likely to take an action that interests you, such as making a purchase.
- Measure your ad results : Better understand the impact of your ads with data on what happens after people see them.
The Facebook pixel is activated every time an action is performed on your website, such as adding an item to the cart or completing a purchase. The pixel receives these actions or “events”, which you can see on your Facebook pixel page, within the events manager. There is also the option to reach those customers through future Facebook ads.
How to add the Facebook pixel to your Shopify online store?
The Facebook pixel is made up of a few lines of code that are placed in the header section of your website. With this code you can receive information about the actions that customers take on your website to better adapt your Facebook campaigns and make them more relevant to your audience.
First of all, you must have access to your website and do so as an administrator, to be able to edit the code. You also need to have a Facebook ads account and access the ads manager.
Next, go to the Pixels tab of the event manager; Click Create a pixel, add a name, type the url of your website and click continue. Copy the code and go to the Shopify admin.
Once there, access the Online Store and click on Preferences. In the Facebook Pixel section add the code and click Save.
Standard Facebook Pixel Events
Once the pixel is installed in your Shopify store, it is responsible for tracking certain events. You can use all of this data to gain insight into how customers interact with your store. Events that track a value use the subtotal of an order, which does not include taxes or shipping costs. Once the pixel is integrated, it tracks the following events:
- View content – When a visitor views a page.
- Search – When a visitor performs a search.
- Add to Cart – When a visitor adds a product to their shopping cart.
- Start Checkout – When a visitor clicks the checkout button.
- Add payment information – When a visitor enters their payment information on the checkout screen.
- Purchase – When a customer completes a purchase and views the thank you page after the checkout process.
